I've just woken up from an hour long nap, pallid, really, by any standards ive come across and it's left me more exhausted and dehydrated than before. ugh. i must have fallen asleep with the niggling uregency to blog, because i woke up reminding myself about it, and also reminding myself why - quite simply because if i dont do it now i'll forget everything, you know, like my e700, dkny watch, starbucks bottle, U2 ipod. yeaaaaaah. im blogging for myself! and a few bribed fans. =) and it's kept to bare daily minimums and pictures i'd like to tune in to no matter where i may be on the globe - im pretty certain my intellectual opinions will be carried to my grave, and my precious music, it shall be piped into my coffin.

welcome to nanyang kindergarden, where im known for a day as Lin Laoshi, where if you're not looking out you might be running over kids, where unreasonable wails over petty imaginary wounds can altogether disappear if you'd pretend to blow at it, where i am most ineffectual as a partial teacher when they're singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and an assortment of cutesey baby songs in mandarin and more specifically, in an octave i reach ONLY when im being tickled. nothing short of embarassing really. imagine holding a kid and guiding her in all the steps without singing along - you know,it's like muting Hi5 while it's playing; people dont look happy, they just look possessed. But i know deep down inside, the kids love me. I who baby speak in chinese too and I who translate every mandarin instruction into baby english specially for them. And the one who wailed all day for mummy and clung to me like a koala to tree ought to really. Just because she's cute she got away with leaving behind a patch of tears/mucus/sweat/drool on my left shoulder after a 30 min nap. IS THAT BLEE'S SURVIVAL TACTIC TOO? only jon would know -grin

i was thoroughly sapped but you know, happy. almost satisfied. isn't that disgusting? i've never had that many hugs and kisses in a day; and i must have washed my hands at least 20 times over while helping the little ones wash theirs. Good to see michelle too, who was there to teach speech and drama, which we both agreed is ridiculous because the kids are almost always completely drained by then and tend to get cranky. hahaha sounds like aparna doesnt it. and funny thing really, how only yesterday we were both along boat quay for tea which stretched til dinner moping, and sighing in the way you would only if you're being philosophical about life. words clearly are overrated, though possibly not in the case of a fallen bagel (me, no less) because coffee bean would be happy to compensate for your stupidity if you dont mind confessing without a screen.

highlights of this week came in early - a confirmed internship slot with Youth Challenge, and a relief teaching slot at my primary school. also rudimentary plans about a fundraiser for the angkor children hospital i visited last dec with smriti and jessica, and the sending off of my mt sinai shots to an ST photog to gauge their decency before i contact ora with my suggestions. more income, and more constructiveness. life can't get better until 17th of feb (or its equivalent) comes along.

Monday, 6th Feb -- Smriti + Michelle

>>> between the above line to all that follows i have had playground-prata with vaish, and aparna on the phone, who's possibly contemplating making me fork out a sum for an additional purple concelaer for dark rings because you know, it's my fault that she called me with something to rant about. SO. that was a hiatus of 6 hours from 8pm to 2am. procrastination is me =)

smriti for lunch! smack at the heart of raffles place in what else but my uniform and salmon haviannas hahahaa. why, why does everyone look so unhappy? amazing isnt it, even on my train ride back eventually people are impatient, and yet not looking the least bit enthusiastic about heading home. enterprising afternoon. it's official we're holding a fundraiser for the angkor children's hospital, and more info will come this way. suffice to say it's the same purpose i had in mind for the ora plan, and it will only be a good thing if everything coincides beautifully. But you know it's always reassuring to know that no matter how ambitious a plan is, smriti's one to get it done, by hook, by crook, or with a generous helping of chance God finds within himself to dole out. but really another day for that. Oh yea if i forgot to mention because chocolate milkshake was congesting my mouth, i have missed you TOO. and im throughly impressed that you've finally figured out how to navigate the worldwideweb.

michelle! what an odd day really, languishing by the coffee bean along boat quay, watching bumboats fart river water, finding ourselves surrounded by french families equally taken by the weather apparently - that's what i call retiring early. hahahaha and after some philopsophical (no less) musings about Love, Sex and RockandRoll we've concluded that with our ad hoc existence we're not anywhere near being bums. Always good to know delusion is not a private thing ha. Good day. Even better weather. Bad, bad bagels.

Sunday, 5th Feb - Andi, Belle

appleberryjuice is flowing to australia! didn't get about seeing the little thimgum off at the airport on tues, and since i have wilfully skipped my class party andi and i met her at Gelare citilink instead, with a Happy House Psychedelic (what else do they do really) Heart blanket sheepishly in tow. great catching up, though admittedly not the most natural of company but well. life goes on. and an awful day, overrall, plans with yingsze and aparna thwarted by familial commitments which is nothing short of painful when you're not even a supermom.

Saturday, 4th Feb - aparna, kelly + family

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA. only way to describe this, manically, thanks to only 2 hours of nap. After kelly and i sucessfully brought forward the Auspicious Hour for aparna to rouse from sleep (let's see, I cld have called for a forklift ) which took me through 45 pages of Memoirs we popped off to coffee bean Forum, which once again reeks of michelle. hahaa god i actually have Social Themes now. While im content with my English Breakfast, aps had TWO sets of breakfasts, and kelly, the one with bagel had the foresight to scoot off right after she's done. because we spent the next few hours supermums and superkids watching, before popping off to toys r us to convince ourselves, once and for all, that sea monkeys watches and necklaces should get on the cover of vogue.


Along the way aparna found time to blog about it on her {Write It Right Computer}! coolbeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeans.








Just because your ideal pet dogs would lick your toes just to please doesnt mean you've got the right to overfeed them.

After that was family dinner! DIY korean bbq, and my paternal grandmother came down to join
my mom's side of the family for this messy thingum which was quite alot of fun, espeically when it came down to the blowing of my aunt's birthday candles, jerica proudly proclaimed that she knew the birthday girl's too old and would crowd out the cake and hence asked for only 1 candle. hahahaa priceless. sparklers time! with the Common Crowd of lucas jerica cousin joni and the two oldest persons (grandmommas). it's so cute seeing my maternal GM holding the hands of my paternal GM simply because the former's almost emaciated while the latter's gravity's darling and really you can't tell if she's trying to help the other one balance, or simply making sure she isnt about to get blown off by the wind.


Lucas! who stood there quietly, mesmerized, with his sparklers outstretched to his arms' fullest while the rest of us ran around trying to set each other on fire. Poor child; just because his mummy told him to. and everytime they went out uncle eric had to replace them.

Oh, and awhile later i was mindless enough to step into the shallowest part of the pool without my sandals and the kids were so on cue, they just poured into it like lemmings. a bit of a chaos, since my aunts had to come down with towels good parenting advice hahaha but hey cmon, kids are happy =)

Friday, 3rd Feb - worm, brian + aparna kelly

very very random day. hahaa met worm and brian for tea at Toast, which for some reason failed to charm with its pink tiles any longer. and i recall thinking somethign about expiry date, and it's one of the places you outgrow, like coffee club. air hockey's down which made me veyr very unhappy. when i own 15 million dollars i'd buy a few of those machines and make sure it gets on the olympics list of tournaments. Scorched Garden yingsze! anyway, did my rounds abt town and got the tickets to our triple movie marathon set at such flawless sequence - matchpoint at 7, walk the line at 9.35 and constant gardener at 12.35 but ah our conscience's revived to realize kelly wont be appeased with only greentea and vanilla haagen daz which we brought in eventualy. =) decent movies, both. We've found the breeziest spot at orchard! at the junction between shaw and pacific coffee club! right before you cross the road. My god talk about wind in hair it was almost an inspiring moment, which naturally lends itself to a revisit 15 mins later. People must have thought we were mad. well nothing could contain her excitement as she discovered a worm within the roast veggie wrap from Toast, and conjured beautiful plans of sudden legal entitlement to free subscription to Vogue, Amazon vouchers, Club 21 platinum privilege cards.




Now we all know what makes a budding fashionista happy. -grin




on an unrelated note, i've got a hunch she doesnt like onions much.


Sat by kelly's pool from what, 1-6am? interrupted only by the chronic need to bathe. anyone visiting kelly's place the should really catch her phallic cactus. im not kidding. it's a cactus so peculiarly shaped you wont be needing much imagination. aparna fell asleep in the exact same position as vaish did at the ritz suite, hahaha a position i had taken advantage of HAHAHA perhaps it's an yindian thang. breeze was amazing what a surreal sleepover all in all. Talking to keep the other person awake's quite a formidable feat. an episode to catalogue!

Thursday, 2nd Feb - michelle + adeline

wheeee since i reached home only at 6am that day, i shall leave all before dawn activity to wednesday's flashback, because it's official - my day starts at 12pm, not 12am. tea with adeline at holland v, and thereafter went traipsing about in search for pets and i kept spilling ribena all over the both of us without realzing. ha were we moping? we're not, right? thank god for her existence.

Wednesday, 1st Feb - shoujie, ian, claud, vaish + michelle

Liquid Kitchen! popped by jerica's to print thumbnails of mt sinai shots for claud, and came along iana and viash with pint of tiramisu. good stuff. cabbed down to pick claud for Liquid Kitchen! hahaa i shall not debate about the food or the prices either way, i couldnt have found more connction with ian when he went "vaish i mean.. really sharp" when she offered her tongue to an ian attemting to slice through industrial strength scotchtape. off we traipsed to shoujie's attic for desperate hosuewives refresher, and some really dubious massaging video, and general mindless fun over for the first time, Only yakult and cola. ha.

if claud ever decides to stand for local elections as a one woman party she's already got herself a campaign poster.

so i got home around 11 and met michelle the fart online, and out of sheer spontaneity decided to explore the yin and the yang of jurong fishery port, arriving there only at 2am after prata supper, for which i had to cab from bishan to peya lebar back to thomson for to pick a fragile little thingum too unfit to walk out of her estatem but absolutely fit for a 4 hour trek from th furthest end of jurong to ayer rajah, to west coast, to tanah mas merah, to clementi on foot. that's how COOL WE WERE. hahaa

Fishy Business in Captions -

So i got home at 6am, having survived stray dogs, olfactory assault, street signs (we kept heading toward CITY like lost pilgrims) thirst, 11 km (and counting), amusing camera modes like Pet, Children, Plants, Party! which this little thingum carries about - see im reciprocating ha.

when you look small beside a lamppost, well.... that'll be about right. I know im the one with ramdom ideas and a momentary fear of carnivorous plants BUT what's an expedition without the most gamesome Bum around. Bum, lah, bum. =) it's ok because you're not alone, not with a fan in aparna. hahaaa.

Tuesday + Monday = losing 70 bucks to various family members and good food!

more excitingly, now with 5 empty Absolut bottles between us, my cousin Joni and i are gonna go about making our own lava lamps.


I'll turn my Absolut Raspberri into a lampshade in full faith that a lamp atop a red bottle would be gorgeous. and with instructions for DIY lava lamps we're gonna attempt at something wonderful. If you dont do such things now, WHEN?.
